Russian: Alphabet

The Russian alphabet consists of 33 letters, 10 vowels (а, е, ё, и, у, о, ы, э, ю, я), 21 consonants (б, в, г, д, ж, з, й, к, л, м, н, п, р, с, т, ф, х, ц, ч, ш, щ) and 2 signs (hard sign, soft sign) that are neither vowel nor consonant (ъ, ь).

The Russian alphabet is based on the Cyrillic script, similar to Ukrainian and unlike English, French or Italian.
