Nonverbal communication is the transmission of information by the means other than direct meaning of words; it includes such aspects as paralanguage (intonation, pauses, etc.), body language (gestures, nodding, etc.) and other communicative means and devices.
Similar to culture, nonverbal means of communication are an important aspect in language learning as it affect the efficiency and effectiveness of communication.
