The list below focuses on the updates that in Edocation team’s experience may be most useful to companies and their D365BC users – for a full list of the updates in this release, refer to link A in the “Further Reading” below:
- Recurring Journal Balances by Dimension – with Edocation team’s contribution (see further reading link B), Microsoft has added the ability to move a balance on a G/L Account to multiple other G/L Account(s) by Dimension. It is also possible to move the balance within the same G/L Account, but with different Dimensions. This feature is useful if, for example, if costs, revenue or allowances are accumulated as a lump sum and need to be shared among different departments by percentage. This feature enables Users achieve the goal by setting up a Recurring Journal Entry with the “Balance” Method making this, potential tedious, monthly process as simple as one click.
- Restore a backup – it is now possible to restore a database to a certain point back in time up to 30 days away. This is useful if some undesired changes have happened and are impossible or difficult to reverse – for instance, if a G/L Account has been deleted or some development (Extension) has been introduced with a negative impact. This feature comes along another new feature allowing renaming databases.
- Company Hub – now Users can conveniently browse through all the Companies that they have access to – the list of the Companies comes with a brief information about each Company to facilitate their navigation.
- Word Layouts, additional Reports – “Sales Shipment” and “Sales Return Order” (1308, 1309) Reports now have Word Layouts. This means that Users can modify them (in addition to the other Reports that already Word Layouts) without requiring any development – this saves time and money.
- Role Centers & Permissions – the enhancements to the out-of-the-box (OOB) Role Centers (Home Pages, Profiles) have been introduces; these, in turn, have triggered some changes in the OOB Permission Sets. These enhancements are useful for Users with different business roles to get the Home Page views that help them work in D365BC efficiently and effectively through the user interface (UI) designed for them. Companies currently using the OOB Permission Sets may need to review and update their security setup.
- Retention policy – it is now possible to clear old log data to free up space and unclutter the database; at the same time, Filters can be applied to preserve the old data that is still useful.
- Bank Reconciliation (Rec.) cancellations – this release provides Users with the opportunity to cancel a Bank Rec. if necessary.
