This post highlights the new features in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365BC), 2021 release 1 (April) – also known as “2021 Release Wave One”.

Below are some of the key features that are introduced in the first major yearly release of D365BC in 2021:
- Dimensions – continues to improve user experience with Dimensions enabling them to:
- make Shortcut Dimensions as Columns on the “G/L Entries” Page;
- correct Dimensions on posted Entries even easier than before;
- allowing only certain Dimensions with certain master data records (e.g. it is possible to invoice goods and service to Customer A in Area X and Y, but not Z).
- Printing on different devices – it is now possible to choose a (different) printing device before the system sends materials to be printed.
- Job Queues – now Partners (such as Edocation) can do more with their Partner license, including testing bank services, approvals and intercompany transactions.
- Database export – in the previous release, database administrators were able to export the information and the process is further optimized for larger databases.
- Power BI integration – D365BC can already integration with the Microsoft Power Platform, but now integration with Power BI can also happen via API.
